How to Compare Flooring Suppliers and Products

Price per square foot tells only part of the story. When you compare flooring suppliers, check these five points first:

  • Selection: Do they carry the species, grade, and width you want, or only what is in stock?
  • Product quality: Ask about wear layer thickness, plank length, moisture content, and finish.
  • Knowledge: Can they explain the difference between solid, engineered, and exotic wood like Ipe?
  • Proof: Read reviews and look at finished projects.
  • Total cost: Add delivery, waste, trim, and installation to every quote.

A supplier who answers all five clearly is one you can trust with your order.

Flooring Supplier Buying Guide: From Selection to Delivery

Follow these steps and your order will go smoothly:

  1. Measure the room and add 7 to 10 percent for cuts and waste.
  2. Pick the species and color that suit your style and foot traffic.
  3. Choose solid or engineered, then prefinished or unfinished.
  4. Confirm the grade, width, and edge with real samples from our shop.
  5. Get a written quote that lists material, trim, and freight.
  6. Place the order and set a delivery date.
  7. Let the wood rest inside your home for several days before installation so it adjusts to the room.

We guide you through each step so you don’t miss anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Start with your room, budget, and timeline. Then pick a supplier who carries the species you want, shows real samples, gives a written quote, and can deliver on your schedule without hidden fees.

Look for years in business, honest reviews, brand partnerships, and clear answers about grade and moisture content. A reliable supplier stands behind the product and helps you after the sale too.

Solid hardwood can be refinished many times. Engineered hardwood handles moisture better and suits basements and concrete slabs. Exotic species add rare color and hardness. Vinyl plank like COREtec fits kitchens and baths.

Cost depends on species, grade, plank width, and finish. Domestic oak costs less than rare exotics, and engineered planks often cost less than solid. Call (215) 468 9663 for a free estimate.

Compare the same species, grade, and thickness side by side. Check plank lengths, finish warranty, lead time, and delivery cost. The lowest price per square foot is not always the best value.
